Opening Fall 2005: Jack Nicholson in Gimme Gonna Love

Jack Nicholson's new romantic comedy, Something's Gotta Give, about a decrepit old coot who inexplicably attracts beautiful young women, will surely please fans of his last romantic comedy, As Good As It Gets, in which he played a decrepit old coot who inexplicably attracts beautiful young women. But given these successes, what might the future hold?

Here, Fametracker takes the guesswork out of Nicholson's romantic-comedy career. Presenting: The Jack-O-Matic. The rules are simple: Take any word or phrase from Column One and combine it with any one word or phrase from Column Two and Column Three. Then add a dash of old coot and a sprinkling of young hottie. Heat and serve. And presto! You've got a Jack Nicholson romantic comedy.

To help you along, we've provided three examples of future Nicholson romantic comedies, created using Jack-O-Matic. Have a taste -- then make your own! It's fun! You can really taste the coot!

Give As Good As You Get; Release date: Summer 2004

Jack Nicholson stars as Myron Planks, a cantankerous but lovable old tyrant who runs a summer basketball camp for teenage girls. Little do their mothers know, however, that Coach Planks is holding special after-camp workout sessions with Darla (Maggie Gyllenhaal), the team's agile star. When Darla's adoptive grandmother (Goldie Hawn) finds out, she decides to slam-dunk coach Plank's career. But after getting a taste of his rude yet oddly charming personality, she winds up slamming -- the coach!

Who Ya Tryin' to Love?; Release date: Fall 2005

Jack Nicholson stars as Micah Baron, a distracted, self-absorbed and extremely abrasive archaeology professor who stinks of booze and regret. When Tyler (Mandy Moore) approaches him after class for some tutoring, he chases her away by throwing tiny bits of broken arrowheads at her. But when her dad (Andy Dick) discovers that their family lineage can be traced back to the area's Native tribes, Tyler decides to dig up her roots -- literally. She invites Professor Baron to a local diner for a milkshake to talk about her intended excavation, but the sit-down is soured when Baron, in a drunken fog, vomits all over the table and is taken to the hospital to have his stomach pumped. Later, however, they join together to dig up an ancient burial ground. And what they unearth...is love!

Whatcha Gettin', Fool?; Release date: Winter 2008

Jack Nicholson stars as Methuselah Barnham, a crazy old hermit who wasn't showered for forty years, and lives in a ditch full of fetid trough-water, deep in the woods of upstate New York. In a senile delirium, Barnham stumbles onto a Manhattan-bound bus, thinking it's a mythic creature in whose belly he must sleep as penance for his sexual self-abuse. Once in Manhattan, he rides the subway to Harlem, where he stumbles, unshaven and stinking of possum urine, into a soul-food diner. He's served by Shayna (Brandy), a spunky waitress with an eye on med school, and who doesn't take to the looks of this rambling, incoherent mountain man -- at first! After a weevil crawls out of Barnham's ear and he eats it, Shayna's father (Danny Glover) tosses Barnham in a dumpster out back, where he falls asleep. But when the line cook (Kadeem Hardison) is felled by a mysterious flu, they need a replacement -- pronto! No sooner is Barnham cooking up grits on the grill than Shayna becomes mesmerized by his garbage-encrusted smile and jostling jowls. Jostling -- like wedding bells!
