Rejected Firewall Taglines
If there's one thing Hollywood loves, it's harnessing the sheer excitement that is computing. From The Net to Swordfish, film has found endless ways to wring drama from the sight of actors nervously keyboarding while someone's fate -- maybe even the fate of the world -- rests in their ability not to make any typos.
This week, a new film will join the pantheon of computer-assisted suspense -- in which computer security specialist Jack Stanfield (Harrison Ford) is menaced by master criminal Bill Cox (Paul Bettany), who takes Jack's family hostage to force Jack to steal from the bank he works for -- and it's so committed to its computerized setting that it trumpets the association right in its very title: Firewall! Best of all, it's a title that instantly draws us in: who among us isn't familiar with a firewall, which can be the user's best friend or worst enemy, depending on how it's configured? The tagline on the poster currently reads, "Everything He loves Is About To Be Used Against Him."
