Paul Guilfoyle
Specialty: Shady Lawmen

Why is it that so many Hey! It's That Guy!s have earned their HITG! credentials playing either cops or lawyers? What is it about that line of work that requires a certain bland, lackadaisical malevolence in the actors who portray it on-screen?

That is a question for another day. Today, we're talking about Paul Guilfoyle, a Hey! It's That Guy! of nearly J.T. Walsh proportions. His slowly balding pate, unexceptional blancmange face, appraising squint, and condescending smirk have made him a frequent guest on Law and Order, and the actor of choice for "red herring" corrupt cop roles in films like The Negotiator (alongside J.T. Walsh), Night Falls on Manhattan, In Dreams, and Heaven's Prisoners. He's even shared the screen with previous Hey! It's That Guy! Harris Yulin and future Hey! It's That Guy!s Johann Carlo, Paul Gleason, and Kevin Conway. Guilfoyle's sixty credits stretch all the way back to 1975 -- and not a significant leading role among them. I guarantee you've seen him in at least one movie. His air of constipated menace, his unremarkable face, and his diminutive figure seem to have pegged him as a behind-the-scenes shit-disturber -- a minor one, now and forever.
